RECLAIMED WATER FACTS
- Reclaimed water is also known as reuse water
- Reclaimed water is highly treated wastewater effluent, disinfected to a high degree, making it usable to safely irrigate medians, ball fields and residential lawns
- Reclaimed water must meet strict water quality requirements established by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).
- Reclaimed water meets most of the drinking water standards and is safe for human contact, though it is NOT intended for use as drinking water.
- Reclaimed water is safe. There have been no reports of ill effects from the prescribed usage.
“APPROVED” USES OF RECLAIMED WATER
- Irrigation of lawn, flower garden, trees and shrubs
- Washing of your vehicle or boat
“UNAPPROVED” USES OF RECLAIMED WATER
- Drinking – Do not Drink – Not for Human nor Pet consumption
- Connecting any pipes to your reclaimed water pipes.
- Filling swimming pools, wading pools, Jacuzzis, spas or any recreational use.
- Children should not be permitted to play in reclaimed water.
- Any usage inside the home or garage including food preparation, washing clothes, bathing, showering, washing pets, or toilet flushing.
